Diabetes sufferers, especially those diagnosed with type 2, often complain of pain in their feet and hands, which is caused by a lack of blood sugar reaching these extremities. Capillaries feed your fingers and toes, so improved circulation in these small blood vessels will mean an adequate dose of blood sugar to these body parts.

People control their cholesterol levels and weight loss with the spice, which is another link between cinnamon and diabetes. For example, it is not recommended for people with liver complications, as it can interrupt the liver’s production of normal glucose, which can lead to dangerously low blood sugar levels.

In large amounts, cinnamon can cause mouth sores or burn marks on your skin, and these large dosages can cause an allergic reaction. Studies show that, in order for cinnamon to have a positive effect on blood sugar levels, you should take no more than a six-gram dosage, around a teaspoon, throughout the course of each day.

While positive links have been shown between cinnamon and diabetes, so much conflicting evidence is also available that reaching a conclusion is impossible. If you do decide to try it, consult with your doctor beforehand and be prepared for it to have no impact on your diabetes symptoms at all. As with all new medication, you should also be prepared to monitor your blood sugar levelsclosely throughout the trial period, so that you can get an accurate picture of the effect of cinnamon on your body.
